16 Easy Ways to Style Men’s Curls
1. Curly Undercut
If you’re into the short, military haircut look, we suggest wearing a cropped haircut with an undercut. This gives you a shorter look without you having to lop off all of your curls. We like to style loose curls like these with a little extra definition. Take a little bit of Axe Messy Look: Matte Gel and coat individual coils to get the look. 2. Defined Curls
If you’ve never done much to work with your curls, you should try our routine for defined curls. Basically with a little change in hair product and a few tweaks in how you dry your hair, and you’ll get the lush looking coils everyone loves. 3. Sculpted Pompadour
For our ’50s fans, you can still create a cool pomp hairstyle with man curls. We suggest following our tutorial for the modern pompadour. But instead of smoothing over your hair with pomade to create your defined look, use it to point-style the tops of your hair. Don’t be scared of dying curly hair! It’s totally possible, and you just need to take some precaution ahead of time and learn about maintenance. Because curly hair tends to be on the drier side, you’ll need to use more moisturizing hair products. If bleaching your hair is in your future, we suggest using coconut oil not only to prep your scalp ahead of time, but to soften your curls after as well.
5. Short Curly Crop
For looser curly or wavy hair types, you can wear a shorter crop more easily. The shorter you go, the straighter your hair will look. We suggest wearing your hair a little shorter on the sides, and longer on top to get that tousled look every day!
6. Asymmetrical Curly Cut
An edgy style you can try is this asymmetrical cut. You’ll wear it longer on one side, and shorter on the other. This creates a cool new shape and lets those coils shine.
7. Defined Curly Afro
If you want to add a little more texture to an afro, we’ve got a little trick. To get this defined look, we recommend styling your hair with a hydrating oil. 9. Wet-Look Curls
Wet-looking hair has been a trending style ever since fashion month this winter. We’re big fans of this look on both men and women. If you’ve used enough gel, your hair will still look slick even when it’s set and dry.
10. Center-Parted Natural Curls
Another runway-inspired look is the center part. It’s as easy as it sounds, really: On your already-defined curls, part your hair right down the center with a comb. It allows your curls to fall freely for a big, fluffy, voluminous look.
11. Classic Shag
Natural curls and classic shags go hand in hand. If you want an androgynous style that will transport you to the past (or are just ready for a quirky #tbt), this is a good one to try. The curls help you get more texture in this style, and a fringe provides extra interest.

Dudes with longer hair can style men’s curls into a cool ponytail.
